Task:

A large toy company has hired your advertisement firm to design an advertisement campaign for their newest toy for 7-12 year old children. They have hired you to design their new advertisement campaign. You will be researching how to advertise to children as well as designing a commercial, for television, that you will present to a client.

Project Goals:

Essential Question:

How does society affect our opinion?

Specific Questions:

How do times of day determine what commercials are shown on television?

Who is the intended audience at specific times of the day for television commercials?

The Process:

1.  Have you ever seen a commercial for a product and you just had to have what it was selling? Did you notice when that commercial was shown on television? Your job for the next week is to keep track of the commercials and what they are selling and the time of the day; record your results on your tracking form . You also need to decide who do you think the commercial was meant for and why do you think it came on at that time of day.

2. To get background knowledge about advertising to children and the effects of advertising on children let's go on a Cyber hunt.

3. Read the article and use it to plan a story board for a Rules For Advertising to Kids commercial for your clients' product. Remember you have to follow the rules. For some ideas on advertisement see these articles: Common Advertising Strategies and Advertising: It's Everywhere.

4. You will need to create a Power Point presentation explaining your advertisement story board to your client.
