The Mission

Lincoln Park Zoo is very concerned that some children think the wolf is a big, bad animal.  They have asked us to investigate the wolf and determine what he is really like. Working as a member of a class investigating team, you will use books, magazines, and the Internet to become experts on the subject of wolves and find out more information to determine whether the wolf is really big and bad. Each team will present their findings to the class and the class projects will be shared with the Lincoln Park Zoo.

The Process

Working in assigned groups, you will investigate wolf facts and myths and decide for yourself whether wolves are portrayed fairly in literature.

Your first job will be to read the story assigned to your group.

Once you have finished reading, discuss your story with your group. To review the vocabulary from your story, complete The Big Bad Wolf word search.

Look at the online resources to find out about the character traits of wolves. As you work at the computer, one team member will do the typing and work at the keyboard. One team member will read the information on the Web sites and two other team members will take notes about the character traits of wolves.

Using Inspiration, your team will complete a character map. Be sure that you take turns and change jobs at the computer.

In your book, the wolf was portrayed as a bad guy. Now you are going to create a story board . Change the story you read so the wolf is portrayed as a good social guy, the way he really is.

Use Power Point to create a slide show of your new story and present it to the class.
