Project Description

 

Throughout a person’s life, he/she will need to think about beginning or maintaining a personal fitness program.  At various times in life, people will utilize different activities to maintain or improve their fitness level.  Everyone has specific needs and goals in fitness. They can be as monumental as becoming the world’s greatest athlete or can be as personal as feeling good about yourself and how you look.  These goals will not magically appear.  As with everything else in life, you need to choose a path and work hard on completing your goals.

With this project, students will develop an understanding about fitness and the need for personal fitness in their own lives.  Students will research basic fitness concepts and apply them to their own requirements. They will also select a goal and design a program to accomplish their objective.

Performance Tasks

 

“Our youth is out of shape”  “All they do is sit in front of a T.V. or play video games” “They live on junk food” 

Throughout your life you have probably heard one of these statements or a similar quote.  These stereotypical statements are definitely not true about today’s youth.  The way to fight such spiteful comments is through knowledge and a personal action plan.  This will allow you to “talk the talk and walk the walk.” 

This project will provide knowledge about your fitness requirements and give you the answers to invalidate such false statements.    You will look at yourself through the eyes of a professional trainer or coach.  You will research and learn about your specific fitness needs and aspirations.  Your ultimate goal will be to take a personal fitness need and develop a comprehensive program to improve your performance level.
