Internet Assessment Rubric

Students are asked to launch the World Wide Web browsers Internet Explorer or Netscape to locate information and solve problems.

Students must learn how to create "bookmarks" so that other students can locate the same information again.

Students must be able to download text, graphics, sounds, and video.

Students must be able to discuss acceptable and appropriate use of the Internet.

Level 4  (Highest level of Internet knowledge)

  • Can launch Netscape/Internet Explorer without assistance
  • Can locate required material within a reasonable amount of time disregarding extraneous information
  • Can use bookmarks to relocate sites on the World Wide Web
  • Can download text, graphics, sounds, and video

Level 3

  • Can launch Netscape/Internet Explorer with minimal assistance
  • Can locate required material within a reasonable amount of time disregarding most extraneous information
  • Can relocate sites on the World Wide Web but doesn't use bookmarks
  • Can download text, and graphics

Level 2

  • Knows that the Internet exists
  • Can launch Netscape/Internet Explorer with assistance
  • Can locate some required material but includes extraneous information
  • Can relocate some sites on the World Wide Web with difficulty
  • Can download text

Level 1 (Lowest level of Internet knowledge)

  • Is unaware of the Internet
  • Cannot launch Netscape/Internet Explorer
  • Cannot locate required material
  • Cannot relocate a site on the World Wide Web
  • Cannot download any material
