 Growing Up - Teacher Page

Project Description:

Growing up requires that we make choices.    In order to make intelligent choices we have to be well informed about topics that will affect our lives forever.

Students need to be well informed about the physical, social, emotional, ethical, moral, and spiritual issues that they will face in their lives.  The main purpose of this unit is to provide students with the information needed for making wise decisions, for developing a sense of responsibility for themselves and others, and for gaining an awareness that decisions made as youngsters often impact their lives forever.

Americans are bombarded every day with information about sexuality.  Unfortunately, much of it is inaccurate, misleading and exploitative.  In order for students to make well-educated choices about their sexuality, they need to be informed with as much accurate information as possible.  During this activity the students will research and compile information about family life. They will present their findings to the class in multiple formats. They may create, design, and develop a pamphlet or create a PowerPoint presentation informing the class of their findings.
