SHADES OF GREEN

  Project Description   

      This project will allow students to research and analyze information gathered on the rainforest and dry forest.  Students will explore the benefits and effects of the forest on our lives or daily living, climate changes, animals, and plant life, utilizing a variety of resources.

 

     Understanding the forest is directly related to their daily lives, the forest provides many resources needed in our homes and schools.

     Using search engines and the electronic encyclopedias, students will gather, organize and analyze this information into a multimedia presentation.

 

Project Goals

Essential Question:
  • How does the tropical forest affect the world?
Specific Questions:
  • How does the tropical forest affect climate change and/or weather?
  • How do the animals and plants affect the circle of life?
  • What other resources are found in the forest (rain and dry)?

Unit Prerequisites
  • Using the electronic encyclopedia, read information on rain forest and dry forest  
  • Using a World map, locate and circle areas where rain and dry forest are found
  • Identify animals and plants found in the rain and dry forest
Performance Actions
  • Access the World Wide Web, using search engines to locate URL’s on the rain forest and dry forest.
  • Gather information on rain and dry forest by using the newspaper, journals, electronics encyclopedia, and Internet.
  • Investigate the complex issues surrounding deforestation and possible solutions.

 

Interpret:

  • Prioritize the findings in order of importance.
  • Imagine the world without theses tropics..

Evaluate the need for rain and dry forest:

  • Investigate the complex issues surrounding deforestation and possible solutions.

   

Produce:

  • Generate ideas to support the need for rain and dry forest.
  • Design a world without these tropics.
  • Develop a plan to save the rain and dry forest.

 

Create a PowerPoint presentation to share with the media titled “ Shades of Green/ The Importance of the Forest “
