Project Description

May I?

Yes, please do so.

Thank you.

You’re welcome.

What?  This lesson will cover and focus on the subject of the use of manners.

Why?  Unfortunately, at our school I have seen many fights, arguments, and misunderstandings that could have been avoided if the students would have used manners and courtesy to avoid stressful situations.

How?  During the course of this lesson, we will use everyday classroom situations and model different approaches to solving confrontations.  We will videotape, audiotape, and use digital cameras to show students their actions and reactions to certain situations.   Students will take on the role of reporters to find several instances of manners (good/bad).

Project Goals

Essential Question:
How does the use of manners affect the way others treat you?

Specific Questions:

Do actions speak louder than words?
What are manners?
Who can use manners?
Where can we use manners?
When can we use manners?
Why should we use manners?
