The Mission

Request to the Department of the Interior offices at Marconi Academy:

(Private and Confidential)

It has been brought to the attention of the president that there is a conflict of interest in the Illinois territory.  There are settlers who are having problems living in peace on their land. Native Americans are causing problems for the settlers.  Business is booming for the traders.  Transportation moguls are planning new railroads across the territory.

It is imperative that this situation be studied and recommendations presented to me using PowerPoint within four weeks.

Signed:     President James Madison

The Process

To accomplish your task you will need to do the following:

Use Inspiration software to create a web of your group’s historical characteristics.

Traders

You will use Microsoft Word to create a diary entry based on your group’s historical identity.  You will use the Inspiration diagram that you created to help you.

Create a diorama illustrating your group’s identity.

Now that you have a greater sense of your group’s historical identity, you will be invited to a round table discussion to air your opinions on the arrival of 150 new settlers.

Organize your findings into a PowerPoint presentation.
