Show Me The Money !

Project Description

Choosing a college and the ability to budget are important.  Determining how to save and spend money wisely are critical concerns/issues for people of all ages.  It is important that students have knowledge of budgeting skills before leaving high school.  Those skills will enable students to manage their financial manner to asset their needs and desires when setting goals.

Students will be assigned in groups of two or three members.  Each student will be responsible for creating a semester’s budget assuming they have a $6,000 starting balance.  There will be several decisions to be made including which school each would attend.  Members of each group will share the cost of rent for a furnished apartment and the utilities only.  Individually each student will be liable for the cost of tuition, books, supplies and any other related needs.  They are also responsible for their personal needs such as food, clothing and entertainment.  The ending balance will determine which group and which student maintained the greatest remaining balances along with good managing skills.  The number of credits earned and the largest saving balance will determine which student had the best management skills.
