Going Batty! |
||||||||||||||
| Project Description | ||||||||||||||
| Students will read the story Stellaluna and discover that she was separated from her mother when she was a baby. She never learned what it was like to live and survive as a bat. Stellaluna experienced great sadness because she was unlike her bird friends. As the story progresses, Stellaluna learns more of what it is to be a bat and discovers that she has special gifts. Students will learn facts about bats. More specifically, they will learn how bats survive in their environment compared to birds. The students will create a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting bats and birds. The students will create a cartoon strip that describes how mother bats care for their young. Finally the students will write a letter to Stellaluna to cheer her up by telling her why she is so special. This will give the students an opportunity to include what they have learned about bats and develop an understanding that all organisms are unique. | ||||||||||||||
